Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month 2025

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month: Get Informed & Get Screened

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about one of the most common—and preventable—cancers. We encourage everyone to take a moment to familiarise themselves with the screening recommendations and signs and symptoms of colorectal cancer.

Why It Matters:
Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed in Bermuda and a leading cause of cancer-related deaths. While it is often diagnosed in individuals over 50, rates are rising in younger adults. The good news is that when detected early, colorectal cancer has a 90% survival rate.

Screening Saves Lives:
Regular screening helps detect colorectal cancer in its earliest stages, when treatment is most effective. Recommended screening starting at age 45 for those at average risk. Several screening options are available, so talk to your healthcare provider about the best choice for you.

Take charge of your health this March. Learn more about colorectal cancer, screening options, and risk factors by visiting our detailed information page.
