Free Public Presentation on Lung Cancer the leading cause of cancer deaths in Bermuda.

Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre invites the community to a free lung cancer talk on June 26, 2024, from 5:30 PM. We will address one of the island's most pressing health concerns. Lung cancer is the fourth most common cancer in Bermuda, trailing breast, prostate, and colon cancers, with an average of 24 new cases each year.

Featuring specialists in the field of Lung Cancer:

  • International Guest Speaker: Jacob Sands, MD, Associate Oncology Medical Director, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, International Patient Center
  • Local Guest Speaker: Dr. Gagan Bhatnagar, Clinical Oncologist, Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre

Alarmingly, half of the Bermuda lung cancer cases are diagnosed at advanced stages (Stage III and IV), underscoring the critical need for early detection and awareness. Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Bermuda, claiming an average of 22 lives annually, with men being particularly at risk as the incidence rises with age.

Early detection and smoking cessation are crucial in reducing lung cancer's impact on public health. We encourage everyone to attend this important event to learn more about lung cancer and how we can work together to combat it.

This free presentation is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, June 26, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the City Hall Arts Centre, located at 17 Church Street. Admission is free, but due to limited seating, attendees are kindly requested to RSVP here to secure seats.

Don't miss this vital opportunity to learn more about prevention, early detection, and the latest treatments to combat this deadly disease.
