Department of E-Commerce Launches e-Monday
Today the Minister of Business Development and Tourism, the Hon. Patrice K. Minors, JP, MP, announced the launch of a new initiative - eMonday.
“The goal of eMonday is to support and encourage the development of e-commerce and highlight the importance technology plays in enabling entrepreneurs and that is why we have created this event,” Minister Minors said.
eMonday also aims to increase online shopping in Bermuda and on November 15th, residents can participate in the first eMonday. Currently more than 30 etailers are signed up. The goal is to increase sales by using online shopping discounts and promotions only available for one day – eMonday.
The initiative is being spearheaded by the Department of E-Commerce within the Ministry of Business Development and Tourism, in partnership with the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce – Retail Division, the Bermuda Small Business Development Corporation (BSBDC) and North Rock Communications.
Other sponsors include Butterfield, the Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative of Bermuda and Quo Vadis.
Additional businesses or organizations who wish to sign up to participate may do so at www.eMonday.bm, the official e-Monday website where shoppers will find an overview of all discounts and specials being offered by the participating business on Monday, November 15th.
Participating businesses must accept orders online, or accept orders online with the ability to provide full online payments. E-Taliers must also offer a discount or promotion on e-Monday to participate.
eMonday is also designed to provide benefits for local e-tailers by identifying and promoting them, providing information and resources for e-commerce startups through networking and information sessions and to support Global Entrepreneurship week.
